Humanities Graduate Breaks the Mold in Hyderabad's IT Sector
In Hyderabad, a city known as a global hub for IT and artificial intelligence, K Sivaram Prasad has defied expectations. Unlike the typical IITians or engineering graduates who dominate the IT solutions industry, Sivaram comes from a humanities background. A graduate of Nizam College, he has reached the top tier of corporate management without formal training from prestigious business schools like the IIMs or technical expertise from India’s top engineering colleges.
Sivaram started his career modestly as a sales representative. Through hard work and perseverance, he climbed the corporate ladder to become the Vice President of a leading IT solutions company in Hyderabad. Today, he leads large teams, mentors employees, and plays a key role in driving revenue growth for his organization.
One of Sivaram’s notable achievements includes successfully building, managing, and transitioning over 500 engineers for Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India within just 18 months. Reflecting on his journey, he said, “Reaching the position of Vice President at Inspire Edge IT Solutions was no easy task. The long hours, continuous client meetings, and the need to understand global markets while meeting company objectives were extremely demanding.” He revealed that he worked nearly 19 hours a day to meet his company’s ambitious goals, which led to outstanding results.
Interestingly, Sivaram’s career path wasn’t always aimed at the corporate world. “I studied BA (Literature with Social Science subjects) and initially dreamed of becoming a civil servant,” he shared. However, personal circumstances led him to take a job as a sales representative in a traditional business. From that point on, he resolved to rise to the top of the corporate ladder. Over the past 20 years, he has continuously upgraded his skills, embraced new technologies, and mastered modern management practices.
During the global IT boom of the early 2000s, Sivaram transitioned into the corporate IT sector. He seized every opportunity to excel in fields like account management, B2B marketing, process improvement, and talent development. His leadership style and expertise have consistently delivered impressive results for the companies he has worked with.
Looking to the future, Sivaram’s ambitions remain high. He hopes to attract more foreign investments to India and harness the country’s vast talent pool to create innovative business solutions for the global market. His journey serves as an inspiring example of how determination and adaptability can lead to success, even in fields traditionally dominated by technical expertise.
