An ancient Hanuman temple in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh has banned Muslims from entering the shrine. The temple has also come up with guidelines for Hindu devotees to follow a dress code. The temple is known as the Gilhari Hanuman temple and it is located in the Achaltalab area. Posters outside the temple state that Muslims are not allowed inside.
The dress code for Hindu devotees says that they should not wear distressed jeans, short and skimpy clothes when entering the temple. The Mahant of the temple, Kaushal Nath, said that wearing such clothes in a religious place is disrespectful and distracting. He added that people should come to the temple dressed decently, but they are free to wear anything outside the temple.
When asked about the ban on Muslims, he questioned why they would come to the temple if they do not want to worship. The temple is famous because Lord Hanuman is worshipped in the form of a squirrel.
