Hyderabad: During the initial stages of the monsoon season, Vikarabad district received the highest amount of rainfall, totaling over 85 mm. This marked an increase in the pace of the monsoon in the State.
Meteorological officials reported that Kashimpur village in Vikarabad experienced the most rainfall since the monsoon arrived in the State on June 3. From June 3 to 9, the State saw significant rainfall, surpassing the amount recorded during the same period last year. The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) officials noted that the State received over 49 mm of rainfall, compared to the normal 22 mm.
Sitarampatnam in Bhadradri Kothagudem had the second highest rainfall in the first week of the monsoon. There were also showers in Mahbubnagar, Narayanpet, and Wanaparthy on Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in a few places across Telangana.
IMD issued a yellow alert, forecasting thunderstorms with rain, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated locations in Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri-Bhuvangiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, and other districts on Monday.
