High-Speed Trains to Connect Hyderabad with Bengaluru and Chennai in Just Over 2 Hours

The Indian government is planning to build two high-speed rail corridors. These will connect Hyderabad to Bengaluru and Chennai, reducing travel time by nearly 10 hours. The trains will run at a speed of 320 km/h.

The Hyderabad-Chennai rail route will be 705 km long, while the Hyderabad-Bengaluru route will cover 626 km. These new train routes will provide a faster and more convenient travel option.

Currently, flights between Hyderabad and these cities take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. However, when considering airport security checks and travel to and from the airport, the total journey time can be 2-3 hours. The high-speed trains aim to offer a quicker and more efficient alternative.

RITES Limited is preparing a detailed project report for these corridors. This includes conducting surveys, designing the project, and estimating costs. The government has allocated Rs 33 crore for this study.

The trains will run on dedicated tracks, similar to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. The entire project is expected to take around 15 years to complete.

The tracks will be designed for speeds up to 350 km/h, though trains will initially operate at 320 km/h. Elevated tracks will be used to allow space for future expansion.
