The Kothagudem MLA, Vanama Venkateshwara Rao, had his petition rejected by the High Court on Thursday. He had filed the petition to request additional time to appeal in the Supreme Court.
Vanama Venkateshwara Rao was disqualified as the MLA for providing incorrect information in his affidavit. He asked the Court to grant him 30 days to file an appeal in the Supreme Court and requested a stay on the previous orders.
The Court had already disqualified Venkateshwara Rao and appointed Jalagam Venkata Rao as the MLA from December 12, 2018. Jalagam Venkata Rao tried to meet with Telangana Legislative Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to hand over the judgment copy and take the oath as MLA. However, the BRS leader handed over the documents to the Legislative Secretary. The Speaker will make a decision on Venkata Rao’s application based on the Election Commission’s directions.
