High Court orders Election Commission to provide candidate Konda with 'nazari naksha' of Chevella LS segment

The Telangana High Court’s division bench, led by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Jukanti Anil Kumar, directed the secretary of the State Election Commission to provide a map showing houses with door numbers in the Chevella LS constituency to former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. Reddy, who is aspiring to be a candidate, will need to pay the necessary charges to the State Election Commission. The court disposed of the writ petition related to this matter.

The court was dealing with a petition filed by Reddy, who had requested the Telangana State Election Commission to provide him with a map of the constituency where he plans to contest in the upcoming elections. Reddy’s lawyer informed the court that without this map, there could be manipulation of the voter list by untrained individuals, leading to fake voters being added to the list.

In another case, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of officials at the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TPCB). The court criticized a joint chief environmental engineer for issuing a show-cause notice to a corporation without following proper procedures. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe called for drastic measures against TPCB officials and demanded transparency in their working.

The court quashed the order issued by the joint chief environmental engineer and instructed the TPCB to assign the case to another officer who would review the matter within 15 days. The court warned of taking contempt action against TPCB officials if the fresh order is not passed within the specified time frame. This decision was made despite the petitioner having the option to appeal to the National Green Tribunal.

Overall, the High Court addressed issues related to electoral transparency and official conduct, emphasizing the importance of following legal procedures and principles of natural justice in all matters.
