Telangana High Court Lifts Stay on KTR’s Arrest in Formula E Case
The Telangana High Court has removed the temporary stay on the arrest of KT Rama Rao (KTR), former state minister and a prominent political figure in the state. This decision allows authorities to proceed with their investigation into the Formula E race case without further delay. Previously, the stay had prevented KTR’s arrest during the ongoing probe.
The Formula E race case revolves around allegations of financial irregularities. Investigators are looking into claims that public funds were improperly transferred to foreign companies involved in the event, which was held in Hyderabad. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing potential violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) related to the case.
Initially, the stay was granted to shield KTR from immediate arrest while the investigation was ongoing. However, the High Court has now canceled this order after reviewing the case details. KTR has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as politically motivated and asserting his innocence.
This latest development carries both legal and political significance. As a key figure in organizing the Formula E event, KTR’s role has come under intense scrutiny. With the stay lifted, investigative agencies like the ED may summon him for questioning as part of their probe into the alleged financial mismanagement.
