Hidden Camera Found in Girls’ Restroom at Mahabubnagar College
A hidden camera was discovered in the girls’ restroom at the Government Polytechnic College in Mahabubnagar, causing alarm among students and parents. The incident prompted immediate action from local authorities. On Thursday, District Collector Vijaya Indira Boyi and Superintendent of Police (SP) Janaki visited the college to address the matter and assure students of their safety.
The issue came to light when the college principal noticed suspicious activity and reported it to the She Teams, a specialized police unit. Following an investigation, the police arrested a student responsible for installing the hidden camera.
During their visit, the District Collector and SP held discussions with the college principal, staff, and students. They stressed the seriousness of the incident and promised strict action against those involved. The Collector expressed concern over this breach of privacy and emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for all students, especially girls.
To prevent similar incidents, the Collector directed the college administration to improve campus security. She suggested installing CCTV cameras in key areas, conducting regular inspections, and establishing a grievance redressal system for students to report problems confidentially.
SP Janaki commended the She Teams for their quick response and highlighted the police department’s commitment to student safety. She urged students and staff to remain vigilant and create a culture of awareness to avoid such violations in the future.
Female students raised their concerns during the discussions and requested stricter security measures. The authorities assured them that immediate steps would be taken, including regular security checks and awareness programs.
