Nagarkurnool Launches Road Safety Awareness Campaign
Nagarkurnool District Collector Badavath Santosh and Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath have taken a step toward promoting road safety. On Saturday, they launched awareness pamphlets and stickers as part of the National Road Safety Month during a meeting held in the video conference hall. Collector Santosh highlighted that human errors are a significant cause of road accidents, particularly affecting individuals aged 18 to 45. He urged officials to implement measures to reduce such incidents.
To improve road safety, the Collector directed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to install reflective signboards at blind spots on roads. He also instructed the installation of essential safety features such as speed breakers, cameras, zebra crossings, proper lighting, and road reflectors. Additionally, awareness programs such as essay and drawing competitions for students were suggested, with certificates to be awarded on Republic Day.
The Collector proposed organizing rangoli competitions on road safety at the Collectorate premises. Winners of these events will also be recognized on January 26. Furthermore, he emphasized the strict enforcement of helmet rules for two-wheeler riders. Entry into the Collectorate premises will be denied to employees and visitors without helmets, and arrangements will be made to provide helmets for purchase at the gate.
The meeting was attended by District Transport Officer Chinna Balu, DEO A. Ramesh Kumar, R&B Executive Engineer (EE), traffic police officials, and representatives from various departments.
