Speaking at the event, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. S.K. Siddappa announced that Albendazole tablets will be given to children aged 1 to 19 years on February 10, 2025. The distribution will take place in government and private schools, junior colleges, degree colleges, and Anganwadi centers. Medical staff, teachers, and Anganwadi workers will be responsible for administering the tablets.

For children who miss taking the deworming tablet on February 10, a second chance will be given on February 17, 2025, during the mop-up round.

Dr. Siddappa also explained the correct dosage of Albendazole:
– Children aged 1-2 years should take half a tablet, crushed and mixed with water.
– Children aged 2-3 years should take one full tablet, crushed and mixed with water.
– Children aged 3-19 years should chew and swallow one full tablet.

He highlighted that worm infections can cause anemia, malnutrition, loss of appetite, weakness, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and weight loss in children. Taking Albendazole helps prevent these conditions.

Benefits of Deworming Treatment:
– Prevents anemia and improves nutrition.
– Enhances concentration, learning ability, and school attendance.
