The Telangana High Court has ordered that security be provided to Barrelakka, also known as Shirisha, who is running as an independent candidate in the Kollapur assembly constituency. This security will be provided until the upcoming assembly elections are over. The court accepted Barrelakka’s request for security and issued orders accordingly.
The court emphasized that it is not enough to provide security only to candidates from recognized parties. Security should also be provided to candidates who believe that their lives are in danger. The court stated that the election commission is responsible for the safety of all candidates.
Barrelakka, popularly known as Sirisha, had approached the Telangana High Court to request security for herself. She filed a petition seeking 2+2 security, and the High Court granted her request.
Sirisha gained attention when a video of her rearing buffaloes went viral on social media a few months ago. Her comments about not finding employment despite having degrees caught people’s attention. She comes from Nagarkurnool district and became famous through just one video. Since then, she has faced difficulties and threats, even during her interviews.
Coming from a poor family and fighting for job opportunities, Barrelakka is campaigning in her own unique way and attracting voters. Many people are supporting her cause.
