Mohammad Shami’s wife, Hasin Jahan, has moved to the Supreme Court to demand the arrest of her husband. A Sessions Court in West Bengal had issued an arrest warrant against Shami, but it was stayed. Jahan alleges that Shami demanded dowry from her and has been involved in extra-marital affairs with prostitutes during his BCCI tours. The petition claims that the trial in this case has not progressed for the past four years and that there should be no special treatment for celebrities under the law. The petition also criticizes the Sessions Court for acting in an erroneous and biased manner.
