Finance Minister T Harish Rao stated that the money confiscated by the Income Tax department in Karnataka was intended to be used in Telangana. He mentioned that the previous government in Karnataka had a 40% commission, but now it has increased to 50%. During IT raids on Congress leaders in Karnataka, crores of rupees were discovered. Harish Rao accused the Congress of attempting to use this illegally earned money for the elections in Telangana.
Harish Rao highlighted that the president of the contractors association, Ambikapati, used to take a 40% commission but now takes 50%. Ambikapati’s wife, Ashwathama, was a Congress corporator. During the raid, Rs 42 crore was found in their presence. Harish Rao suspected that this money was collected from contractors to transfer into Telangana under the guise of Telangana tax. He demanded that the Congress leaders provide an explanation for this.
Harish Rao alleged that Ambikapati had close ties with Karnataka Minister DK Shiva Kumar and Eshwarappa. He claimed that the Congress party has started collecting money from builders, businessmen, and contractors to spend Rs 1,500 crore in Telangana. Harish Rao also accused the Congress leaders of imposing a tax of Rs 75 per sqft for building permission. He criticized Karnataka for its corruption and referred to the Congress as “Scamgress.” Harish Rao concluded by stating that regardless of any conspiracies, it is the BRS that will win the election.
