Hyderabad: BRS senior leader T Harish Rao has accused the Congress government of making changes to the alignment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR). He said these changes are putting a heavy financial burden of Rs 20,000 crore on the public to benefit contractors.
During an informal interaction with the media at Telangana Bhavan, Rao shared his concerns about the government’s failure to keep its promises. He mentioned that the original plan for the RRR was created during their government, with separate plans for the northern and southern sections of the road.
Rao explained that the northern section, which covers 158 kilometers, was approved by the Central government. Both the Central and State governments had agreed to equally share the costs for acquiring the land under Section 3A.
However, he pointed out that by changing the alignment, the length of the road has increased from 182 kilometers to 198 kilometers. Rao believes that this change will not be accepted by the Central government and will only serve to benefit a few individuals at the expense of the state.
