Heavy rainfall has been occurring in Telangana State for the past four days. In Karimnagar district, Gundi has recorded the highest amount of rainfall at 213.5 mm until 8.30 am on Friday. Other areas with heavy rainfall include Puduri and Kodimial mandals in Jagtial district, with 160 mm and 158.8 mm of rainfall respectively. Burugupalli in Gangadhara mandal also experienced heavy rainfall with 143.8 mm.
The heavy showers have caused overflowing of tanks, ponds, rivulets, and other water bodies in the erstwhile Karimnagar district. This has resulted in disrupted road connectivity in some areas, including near SRR function hall on the outskirts of Vemulawada. Additionally, the approach road of an under-construction road bridge near Konapur in Sarangapur mandal has been washed away due to heavy flow.
The water level in the Godavari river at Dharmapuri temple town has risen due to the release of water from the Kadem project and heavy rains in its catchment areas. Municipal commissioner Ch Ramesh and SI Dattadri have examined the water levels and advised devotees not to enter deep water for bathing.
In Jagtial, a huge tree in front of the Dharur dog squad camp has been uprooted due to the strong winds accompanying the heavy rainfall.
