CM Revanth Reddy Announces Major Investments at BioAsia 2025
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced new investments in the life sciences sector during the inauguration of the 22nd edition of BioAsia 2025. A total of Rs 5,445 crore will be invested by 11 companies in Green Pharma City, creating 9,800 new jobs.
The Chief Minister mentioned that several multinational corporations, including MSD, US-based Agilisium, Australian company ALS, and Taiwanese firm Meishi Pharma, are part of these new investments. He also revealed that Telangana will introduce a new life sciences policy, the first of its kind in India.
Reddy highlighted the state’s achievements in attracting investments. “Last year, we secured over Rs 40,000 crore in the life sciences sector, covering more than 150 projects. Our goal is to transform Telangana’s economy into a $1 trillion powerhouse in the next decade,” he said.
The government aims to make Hyderabad and Telangana one of the top global hubs for biosciences, biotech, and life sciences. The Chief Minister assured investors that the state would provide policy support, infrastructure, and incentives to promote Hyderabad as a leading life sciences destination.
To further boost the sector, the government is developing pharma villages between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Regional Ring Road (RRR). These projects are expected to create five lakh new jobs.
Industries Minister Sridhar Babu provided insights into the upcoming Life Sciences Policy, which is currently open for public discussion. The policy will also include guidelines for setting up a Life Sciences University. Over the past year, life sciences companies in Telangana have already generated 51,000 direct jobs and 1.5 lakh indirect jobs.
Telangana plays a key role in global medicine production, contributing 20% to the world’s generic medicines and 40% to global vaccine production. The state exports medicines worth $5 billion and is committed to supporting advanced research and drug discoveries.
During the event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented the prestigious Genome Valley Excellence Award 2025 to Dr. Patrick Tan, a renowned cancer researcher from Singapore. Later, he and the Industries Minister held discussions with representatives from Queensland, Australia, exploring investment opportunities, potential MoUs, and the establishment of a sports university.
