Grand Special Abhishekam and Poojas Performed for Shani Dev with Grandeur

Nagarkurnool: On the occasion of Shani Trayodashi, which comes before Shravan Purnima, special ceremonies were held at the ancient Shani temple in Nandi Vaddeman village, Bijinapalli Mandal. The event was marked by grandeur as devotees gathered in large numbers to perform Til Abhishekam, which involves anointing the deity with sesame oil.

The chief priest, Dr. Gavvamatham Vishwanatha Shastri, shared that this Shani temple is believed to be from the 12th century and is associated with historical figures Gona Buddhareddy and Gona Ganna Reddy. He mentioned that the temple is highly revered and that those who visit and offer prayers here gain immense spiritual merit.

This year, in the Krodhinama calendar, Shani Dev is considered the king among the Navagrahas (nine planets). The priest explained that worshiping Shani Dev during this time brings quick blessings. Many devotees, particularly those whose horoscopes are influenced by Shani Dev, such as those experiencing Ashtama Shani or Ardashtama Shani, came to the temple with great devotion to perform the Til Abhishekam.

Additionally, the priest highlighted the importance of worshiping Lord Shiva during the Pradosh period on Shravan Saturdays. It is believed that doing so brings special blessings. The poojas included anointing Shani Dev with sesame oil, Jilledu flowers, Jammi leaves, and other sacred items to alleviate planetary troubles. Afterward, Rudrabhishek Poojas were performed for Lord Shiva, along with special prayers to Ganapati and Nandishwara.

The event concluded with the distribution of Teertha Prasad to the devotees, and arrangements were made for water and Anna Prasadam (food) for all attendees. The temple chairman, V. Gopala Rao, along with committee members and priests, ensured that everything went smoothly. Thousands of devotees, including women and families, participated in this special occasion.
