Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has accused the government of acquiring land in Kodangal to benefit the business of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s son-in-law. He made these allegations during a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday.
Rama Rao claimed that the ongoing protests in Kodangal, where people have been agitating for the past six months, are part of a conspiracy. He said that there is even an audio clip where the CM’s brother is allegedly threatening farmers, saying their lands would be taken by force. “Kodangal is in turmoil because of Revanth Reddy’s reckless decisions,” Rama Rao said. While the situation in Kodangal worsens, the CM is reportedly busy campaigning in Maharashtra, he added.
Rama Rao further alleged that the company involved in the land acquisition is linked to both Revanth Reddy’s son-in-law and Annam Sharat’s son-in-law, who are directors in the same company. According to him, the CM is using this as a cover to take land from the poor in the name of a pharma city project.
The BRS leader also criticized the arrest of Patnam Narender Reddy, calling it a kidnapping. “How can they arrest Narender Reddy like this? He is not a criminal to be dragged from his home,” said Rama Rao. He also mentioned that farmers were being arrested even during family celebrations.
Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy and his associates of attempting to profit from real estate by forcefully taking land from poor SCs, STs, and BCs under the guise of land acquisition. He questioned the need for banning internet services in the area, stating that it was unnecessary.
Lastly, Rama Rao defended Suresh, one of the people affected by the land acquisition, against accusations that he attacked an officer. He questioned whether there was any evidence of the attack and pointed out contradictions between the statements of the local Collector and the IG of police. Rao also criticized Revanth Reddy’s connections, saying, “If it’s wrong for Suresh to meet me, then why is Revanth Reddy associating with Adani?” He called for the removal of Revanth Reddy from the position of Chief Minister.
