Hyderabad: Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy criticized Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor, and said she should not continue in her position. Prashanth Reddy was unhappy with the rejection of MLCs (Members of Legislative Council) under the Governor’s quota. He accused Soundararajan of using Raj Bhavan, the Governor’s residence, for political purposes. He also mentioned that the Governor insulted leaders from the BC (Backward Classes) and ST (Scheduled Tribes) communities by rejecting their nominations. Prashanth Reddy pointed out that Soundararajan herself had a political background as she previously served as the president of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in Tamil Nadu. He called for her resignation if she had any moral ethics.
Prashanth Reddy also brought up Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support for implementing the Sarkaria Commission’s recommendations in appointing Governors without any political affiliation. However, he criticized the BJP for not considering these recommendations.
