Governor condemns violence in West Bengal panchayat polls, emphasizes the need for peaceful voting

Violence erupted during the West Bengal panchayat elections, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals. Among the victims, six were from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), one was a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and one was affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

The incidents occurred in various districts. Three TMC members were killed in Murshidabad, two individuals (one from the BJP and one from TMC) died in Cooch Behar, one CPI(M) worker was killed in East Burdwan, one TMC member died in Malda, and one TMC worker lost his life in South 24 Parganas.

Reacting to these violent incidents, West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose strongly condemned the situation. He expressed his belief that elections should be conducted peacefully, with ballots rather than bullets determining the outcome in the state.
