Government Junior College at Shadnagar in Rangareddy District suffers from severe neglect

The Government Junior College in Shadnagar, Rangareddy district, has been neglected by officials for years, leading to a lack of safety measures, sanitary conditions, and sufficient faculty. The college, which has been serving the community for 53 years, is now in a dilapidated state and at risk of closure.

Former MLA Pakkani Narsimhlu visited the college and expressed disappointment at the messy state of affairs. The college has only 19 faculty members for a total of 772 students, with the principal on deputation elsewhere. The college offers different streams and vocational courses, but lacks proper infrastructure and facilities.

Narsimhlu criticized the officials for their negligence and highlighted issues such as poor sanitation, lack of safety measures, and discolored walls with shrubs growing out of cracks. He also mentioned the absence of proper flooring in some classrooms and inadequate drinking water facilities.

The college’s water plant is poorly maintained, posing a health risk to students. The electrical wiring is also faulty, leading to frequent short circuits. In-charge principal Qudsia Begum has had to personally undertake repair work on multiple occasions.

Students have complained about snakes in the premises, but their concerns have been ignored. The college lacks attendants to ensure safety and sanitation. As a result, many students have already left the college due to the poor state of affairs.

It is clear that the Government Junior College in Shadnagar urgently needs attention and support to improve its conditions and provide a conducive learning environment for its students.
