Nizamabad: Gutta Amit Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation, highlighted the state government’s strong support for the dairy industry. He mentioned that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has released Rs 50 crore in funds to assist the sector, with an additional Rs 10 crore to clear old dues owed to dairy farmers.

On Wednesday, Amit Reddy, along with Bodhan MLA P. Sudarshan Reddy and District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, visited the Vijay Dairy center in Sarangapur. During their visit, they reviewed the processes of milk procurement and sales. They also spoke with dairy farmers to understand the challenges they face.

Amit Reddy explained that delays in bill payments were due to lower-than-expected milk sales. However, he assured the farmers that the government is working to resolve these issues quickly. He also mentioned that the government has issued guidelines for using Vijay Dairy milk in places like jails, temples, hospitals, and Anganwadi centers. This has helped increase sales significantly.

Despite this, more efforts are needed to further boost sales. Currently, the dairy collects 4.40 lakh liters of milk daily but only sells 3.20 lakh liters. The excess milk is being converted into milk powder and butter, which adds to the financial burden. Telangana offers Rs 39 per liter to dairy farmers, nearly double what neighboring Maharashtra pays.

District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu urged dairy farmers to continue supporting Vijay Dairy in overcoming its financial losses and sharing profits. He emphasized that Vijay Dairy’s milk is known for its purity and should be promoted more widely. The district administration also promised full support for the further development of the dairy.

Several officials and representatives from the dairy farming community attended the event.
