Nagar Kurnool: Tribute to Savitribai Phule on Her Birth Anniversary
On the 194th birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, Nagar Kurnool MLA Dr. Kuchukulla Rajesh Reddy encouraged women to follow her ideals. Speaking at an event organized by the District Education Department, he said the Telangana government’s decision to declare January 3rd as Women’s Teachers’ Day is a meaningful way to honor Savitribai’s contributions to social equality.
Dr. Rajesh Reddy highlighted that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the government is working to fulfill Savitribai Phule’s vision. He praised her pioneering efforts in advancing women’s education and addressing injustices faced by marginalized communities. He noted that her fight against gender and caste discrimination continues to inspire people today.
The MLA urged women educators to adopt Savitribai’s principles by empowering girls with skills and creating employment opportunities across various sectors. During the event, several women teachers were honored with shawls. Additionally, a 9th-grade student named Keerthana, who dressed as Savitribai Phule, received special recognition from the MLA and the District Collector.
The event was attended by District Collector Badavath Santosh, Education Officer A. Ramesh Kumar, Nagar Kurnool Mandal Education Officer Bhaskar Reddy, Nodal Officer Kurumayya, and Sectoral Officers Sharfuddin, Venkataiah, Shobharani, and Venkateshwarlu. SGF Secretary Pandu, Headmistress Latha, women teachers, and students also participated in the celebrations.
