Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of neglecting the work on Package 19-A of the Kaleshwaram project. Speaking in the Assembly on Tuesday, he assured that the government would complete the 19-A Package works within the next two years.
During the Question Hour, Congress MLA P Sanjeeva Reddy and others raised concerns over the pending work on Package 19-A. The Minister further explained that survey estimates are being conducted for the proposed Peddareddypeta lift irrigation scheme. This scheme aims to bring 39,000 acres of new ayacuts in the Narayankhed constituency under irrigation. However, he clarified that a final decision would only be made after completing the necessary estimates.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted that land under Package 19-A, which falls under the Peddareddypeta lift irrigation scheme, is currently under review. He said that the government is also examining the status of the Vengalrai Sagar project in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district before making a decision.
Uttam Kumar Reddy criticized the previous government for failing to take serious steps toward completing the Basaveshwara and Sangameswara projects. These projects are essential for making the Narayankhed and Zaheerabad constituencies fertile, he said. The Minister assured that the lifts and related works for these projects would be completed soon.
