Government aims to construct more than 2.2 million Indiramma housing units in the next 5 years.

The State government in Hyderabad is focusing on the Indiramma Housing scheme for providing housing to the poor. The Revenue and Housing Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, mentioned that the upcoming budget will allocate maximum funds to this scheme. A review meeting was held at the Secretariat with Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

The Minister highlighted how CM A Revanth Reddy initiated the scheme in Bhadrachalam shortly after taking charge. He explained that the implementation was delayed due to the Lok Sabha election Code of Conduct. Preparations are now being made to implement the scheme after the elections.

The target is to construct 22.50 lakh Indiramma houses over the next five years, with 4,16,500 houses planned for the first phase. The aim is to provide housing for every deserving person in the state. The Minister emphasized the importance of recognizing the priority of the State government and working accordingly.

Officials were instructed to gather information on double-bedroom houses built in the last ten years under the previous government, as well as those currently under construction. The Deputy CM ordered officials to study the construction of Indiramma houses in other states and provide a report to the government.

Efforts are being made to prioritize housing for underprivileged sections of society and ensure that the Indiramma Housing Scheme helps the poor live with self-respect. Budget allocations are being made for a large-scale construction project this financial year to achieve these goals.
