Residents Protest Against Proposed Osmania Hospital Construction in Goshamahal

Residents of Chaknawadi in Goshamahal, Hyderabad, are protesting against the government’s decision to construct a new Osmania Hospital building in their area. They are urging the authorities to cancel the plan, citing concerns for the people living nearby.

A protest meeting was held near Chakanawadi Nala on Tuesday to oppose the construction of the hospital at the Goshamahal Police Ground. The residents expressed their discontent, saying that the project would cause significant inconvenience to those living in the vicinity. During the protest, they carried placards with slogans such as “Osmania Hospital Hatao, Goshamahal Ground Bachao” (Remove Osmania Hospital, Save Goshamahal Ground) and “Osmania Hospital Vaddu, Goshamahal Ground Muddu” (No to Osmania Hospital, Yes to Goshamahal Ground).

The event was organized by the Goshamahal Parirakshana Samithi, a local group formed to protect the interests of the area. Many residents came together and passed a resolution to oppose what they described as “anti-people decisions” by the government. The committee announced plans to continue protests across the Goshamahal constituency and warned of escalating their agitation.

Protesters declared that if the government does not reconsider its decision, they will intensify their actions. This includes organizing road blockades (Rasta Roko), hunger strikes, and even calling for a bandh (shutdown). They also threatened to lay siege to the Collector’s Office and the camp office of local MLA T Raja Singh.

The residents have called on MLA Raja Singh to address the issue in the upcoming Assembly session. They are demanding a clear response from the government to halt the hospital’s construction at the proposed site.
