Global Media and Entertainment Summit Roadshow Takes Place

Hyderabad:
The Government of India is preparing to host the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) early next year. The event will take place from February 5 to 9 and aims to strengthen India’s media and entertainment (M&E) industry while increasing its global presence.

At a roadshow held at Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) in Hyderabad on Friday, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, spoke about the significance of WAVES. He mentioned that this will be the first global summit to cover all aspects of the media and entertainment industry.

Jaju also highlighted that WAVES will bring together the media and entertainment sectors with technology. The summit aims to be a key platform for discussions, collaboration, and innovation. Industry leaders, stakeholders, and innovators will gather to explore new opportunities, address challenges, boost trade with India, and shape the future of the industry.

Earlier in the day, Jaju met with film associations and leaders from the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector. During this meeting, organized by the CBFC regional office in Hyderabad, he promised strict actions against film piracy. He also assured the government’s support for the gaming industry.

Telangana IT Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan, also spoke at the event, stating that Telangana has developed a strong ecosystem to support innovation in this sector. He encouraged young animators and content creators to participate in WAVES. He emphasized that WAVES is an ambitious program designed to engage young talent. Ranjan also urged students to take part in India Joy, another event happening in November, where they can meet collaborators and learn more about the industry.
