Mahabubnagar: On Wednesday, the Girijana Sangham and Lambada Hakkula Porata Samithi (LHPS) celebrated the birth anniversaries of two great leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The event took place at the late Pantu Naik Girijana Bhavan, where tribal leaders paid their respects by garlanding the portraits of Gandhi and Shastri. This ceremony was organized by the Tribal Employees Seva Sangham from the Mahabubnagar District Committee. The focus of the event was to remember the legacies of these leaders and their contributions to promoting non-violence and social justice.

P. Gangaram Naik, the president of the Tribal Employees’ Association, spoke about Mahatma Gandhi’s vital role in India’s fight for independence. He emphasized Gandhi’s belief in non-violence as a powerful tool for achieving social and political change. “What cannot be achieved through violence can be accomplished through non-violence,” Naik said, reflecting Gandhi’s philosophy.

The day also coincided with the World Day of Non-Violence, an international observance designated by the United Nations. This day has been commemorated annually since its declaration on June 15, 2007.

K. Subhash Rathore, the General Secretary, paid tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was awarded the Bharat Ratna. Rathore highlighted Shastri’s famous slogan, “Jai Jawan – Jai Kisan,” honoring both the soldiers who protect the nation and the farmers who work hard to feed it.

Several important figures attended the event, including M. Shankar Naik, Secretary of the State Tribal Employees Association, and V. Govardhan Naik, Adviser of the Tribal Employees Association. Other tribal community leaders present were GVSS President Ramawat Ravi Rathod and former Presidents of the Nenawat Gangya Naik Employees Association.

This ceremony not only honored the values of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri but also reinforced the tribal community’s ongoing dedication to justice and equality.
