New Court Complex Planned in Gadwal
A new court complex will soon be constructed along the Gadwal-Kurnool road. On Sunday, MLA Krishna Mohan Reddy, Bar Association President Raghu Rami Reddy, Secretary Shafiullah, and advocates including Manohar, Sridhar, Rajasekhar Reddy, Manzoor, Patel Prabhakar Reddy, and Mansur visited the proposed site to inspect the area.
The location was finalized after discussions with District Collector Santosh Kumar. Officials emphasized that the land allotment process was free from any vested interests by the previous government. The Gadwal Bar Association unanimously supported the government’s choice of location, which has been welcomed by lawyers, judges, and public representatives alike.
Location and Budget
The proposed site is near Alampur, close to the national highway, making it highly accessible. The government has allocated ₹91 crores and 15 acres for the court complex. Additionally, 10 more acres have been set aside for a housing society for advocates. The site’s location also offers potential for future development, as it is near key projects like a handloom park, a proposed police training center, and a government engineering college.
Concerns Over Traffic and Accessibility
Despite broad support, some advocates have raised concerns about the location. They argue that the proximity to the Jamulamma temple could create logistical challenges, especially during the five-month-long Jamulamma festival, which brings heavy traffic congestion.
Advocate Nizam Kari Muralidhar pointed out that litigants and advocates might face delays during festival days. He noted, “Traffic from devotees will obstruct access to the court, potentially causing absenteeism or legal complications like warrants.”
Others suggested building a flyover to address the traffic problem. However, some advocates believe shifting the judiciary complex to Poodur, on the outskirts, could resolve these issues. They emphasized that such a move might also benefit smaller advocates by improving accessibility.
Safety and Accessibility for the Public
Dr. Raghunath Reddy, a prominent figure in the community, voiced concerns about moving the judiciary complex too far from the town center. He argued, “The judiciary is a watchdog for law and order and should be easily accessible to the public.”
Dr. Reddy suggested that remote locations would be better suited for other purposes, such as medical or educational institutions, rather than a judiciary complex. According to him, keeping the court within the town ensures public safety and convenience.

While the planned site has been praised for its accessibility and potential for expansion, the concerns surrounding its proximity to the Jamulamma temple remain unresolved. Advocates and public representatives are calling for further discussions to ensure the site meets the needs of all stakeholders.
