Gadwal Bar Association Raises Concerns Over Court Complex Location

The Gadwal Bar Association has urged Honorable Portfolio Judge Justice Pulla Karthik to cancel the land allocation for the district court complex at Survey No. 368 in Pooduru village. On Thursday, a group of senior advocates, led by Association President R. Raghurama Reddy, met the Portfolio Judge at the High Court to discuss their concerns.

The advocates argued that the chosen location in Pooduru, on the outskirts of Gadwal Mandal, is not suitable for such an important project. They pointed out that the remote and isolated area is far from the district center, making it inconvenient for many court users, especially women, the elderly, and differently-abled individuals, who already face challenges when attending court proceedings.

The delegation also alleged discrepancies in the site allocation process. They claimed that the land shown to them does not match the officially allocated site and accused lower-level officials of misleading both the judiciary and the District Collector. To clarify their concerns, they presented a detailed map of the site to Justice Karthik.

The Bar Association emphasized that the proposed integrated court complex, which is estimated to cost ₹100 crore, should be constructed in a more accessible location. They suggested either the PJ Colony area, which they prioritized, or the site of the existing court as better alternatives.

The advocates warned that proceeding with construction in Pooduru would negatively affect not only the legal community but also the general public, litigants, and other stakeholders. They expressed their commitment to continuing their relay protest until the decision to allocate the Pooduru site is reconsidered.

In response, Justice Pulla Karthik assured the advocates that the issue would be referred to the Building Committee for further discussion. He requested the advocates to temporarily halt their protest while the matter is being addressed.

The delegation later met with High Court Justice T. Vinod Kumar, Chairman of the Construction Committee, to present a memorandum outlining their concerns. Justice Vinod Kumar promised to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Senior advocates including Venkatadri Reddy, Sudhakar, Ismail, Khaja Mainuddin, Srikanth, Krishnamohan Reddy, Rajasekhar Reddy, Vijay Mohan Reddy, and Anand Rao were part of the delegation that visited the High Court.
