The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and GHMC’s Food Safety officials conducted inspections at various eateries in Hyderabad following complaints of food adulteration and unhygienic practices. Consumers had reported finding stale food and even dead insects in packed food items.
During the inspections, establishments like Karachi Bakery, Cream Stone, and Bilal Ice Cream were found to be lacking in hygiene standards. Expired stocks of food items were discovered at Karachi Bakery, while Cream Stone was using expired strawberry paste. Bilal Ice Cream was operating without a valid license and had fake-brand water bottles on the premises.
Violations related to hygiene, storage, and food quality were also observed at restaurants like Clove Vegetarian Fine Dine. Products like cheese, syrup, and sandwich breads were found expired, while unsanitary conditions like stagnant drainage were noted. Notices were issued, and further action will be taken to address these violations.
At Firefly Restaurant and Air Live Restaurant, hygiene and pest-related violations were found. Water bottles lacking a valid BIS license were seized at both locations. Suspicion of substandard packaged drinking water at Air Live Restaurant led to further testing.
At Taco Bell, concerns were raised about reused oil potentially exceeding acceptable levels during peak demand periods. A show-cause notice was issued to address this issue.
