From Rejected to MLA: How one man overcame criticism of his leadership abilities

A young politician named Majid Hussain from Hyderabad was once rejected in a job interview for lacking leadership skills. However, he went on to become the Mayor and an MLA from the Nampally Assembly constituency in the city.

Majid Hussain, a member of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), currently serves as the MLA from Nampally Assembly segment. His father was a government lecturer, and Majid initially aimed to secure a job in a multinational company. Despite working in companies like HSBC, he was rejected for an assistant manager position due to his perceived lack of leadership. Ironically, the same HR personnel later congratulated him on becoming the Mayor of Hyderabad.

Recognizing Majid’s leadership potential, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi encouraged him to enter politics. Majid contested Municipal elections from Ahmednagar in 2009, eventually becoming a corporator from Mehdipatnam division before winning as an MLA by defeating a Congress party candidate.

As the Nampally MLA, Majid Hussain dedicates part of his day to resolving public grievances at Darussalam. He credits Owaisi as his motivation and inspiration, reminiscing about his days meeting prominent figures while working in a multinational corporation. Despite considering a career in the US if not for politics, his satisfaction now comes from helping families affected by government demolition drives.

Reflecting on his election victory with a narrow margin, Majid acknowledges that success and failure are ultimately determined by a higher power. He emphasizes his dedication to improving government schools in his constituency with modern facilities like digital classrooms, outlining plans for their enhancement.
