The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested journalist Vivek Raghuvanshi and navy commander Ashish Pathak for revealing sensitive military data, such as information about DRDO projects and upcoming armed forces purchases. The CBI conducted raids on Tuesday, and both Raghuvanshi and Pathak were taken into custody under the Official Secrets Act. After questioning, the journalist was arrested with Pathak on charges of criminal conspiracy and violating the Official Secrets Act. The CBI is investigating a larger plot in this case.
The CBI began investigating the leaks in December. Raghuvanshi is suspected of gathering sensitive data, including information about the DRDO’s projects, future armed forces purchases, diplomatic talks between India and friendly nations, strategic readiness, and sharing classified data with foreign intelligence agencies. These leaks could harm India’s relationships with other countries.
