    Wanaparthy: Additional Collector (Revenue) G Venkateshwarlu announced on Tuesday that starting April 2, fine rice will be given for free to white ration card holders in the district. The rice will be distributed through Fair Price (FP) shops.

    The Collector said that local MLAs from different areas in the district will officially launch the rice distribution at these FP shops.

    There are 1,59,353 white ration cards in the district, covering a total of 5,22,367 people. Each person listed on a ration card will receive 6 kilograms of fine rice every month at no cost. To meet this need, the district requires 3,309 metric tonnes of rice.

    Starting Wednesday, all 324 FP shops in the district will begin distributing the free rice. The Additional Collector assured that there is enough rice available and encouraged all families with white ration cards to make use of the scheme.
