Hyderabad: Environmentalist Uday Krishna has started the ‘Big Tree Quest’ to raise awareness about giant and heritage trees in India. He is documenting these ancient trees on his YouTube channel to highlight their historical significance.

Uday got the idea for this project after selling a resort in Tipeshwar forests and wanting to take a break. He planned to visit the oldest 10 trees in the world but ended up extending his journey to discover ancient trees across India. So far, he has visited 40 trees in seven states.

During his travels, Uday has met local nature enthusiasts who have joined him on his journey. He hopes to build a network of tree lovers across the country and is experiencing positive energy while visiting these ancient trees.

Two notable ancient trees Uday encountered in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are Pillalamarri in Mahabubnagar and Thimmamma’s Banyan tree in Anantapur. He plans to approach the government to preserve these trees as heritage trees and involve corporate organizations in their maintenance.

Uday’s next plan is to visit the North East States as part of the ‘Big Tree Quest’, which includes documenting a total of 135 trees. He aims to complete this journey by the end of the year.
