Forum for Good Governance in Hyderabad Calls for Resignation of Health Director

The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has asked the Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to remove the Director of Health G Srinivasa Rao from his position. The FGG secretary M Padmanabha Reddy wrote a letter to the chief secretary on Tuesday. Reddy claimed that Rao made irresponsible statements that violated the code of conduct of government servants.

Reddy said that Rao made a statement during a Christmas celebration that Corona was controlled in the state because of the grace of God (Jesus) and not because of the mass vaccination programme of the Government. Reddy felt that this statement insulted the vaccination programme taken up by the Government.

Reddy also mentioned that Rao made a statement on February 12 during a meeting where he claimed he grew up under the influence of Naxalites and was holding a gun. He also mentioned another statement Rao made on April 17 during Iftar dinner about how Tayath had cured his wound.

Reddy felt that these statements could send wrong signals about Medical and Health activities of the government. If Rao has no faith in modern medicine, he is unfit to hold the post of Director of Health, said Reddy. Finally, Reddy mentioned that there are rumors going around that Rao is likely to enter politics, and all his controversial statements and acts are meant to be in the limelight even if they are in bad taste.
