Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid tributes to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary. PM Modi praised Rao’s leadership and commitment to India’s development. Kharge also acknowledged Rao’s significant contribution to the economic transformation of India and nation-building.
PV Narasimha Rao was born on June 28, 1921, in Laknepalli village, Telangana. He was the first non-Nehru-Gandhi family member to complete a full five-year term as Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996. However, he was voted out in 1996.
During Rao’s tenure, India’s Finance Minister Manmohan Singh introduced economic reforms in 1991. Rao provided Singh with the necessary support and protection to implement these reforms. PV Narasimha Rao passed away on December 23, 2004, at the age of 81.
