Hyderabad: The State Food Safety Department has revoked the license of the central kitchen associated with Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions in Madhapur.
On Friday, food safety officers conducted a surprise inspection of the kitchen. This facility is responsible for supplying food to the hostels of Chaitanya colleges across Greater Hyderabad, serving thousands of students daily.
During the inspection, officials found the kitchen in extremely unsanitary conditions. Expired food items were discovered being stored on the premises. Authorities seized approximately 125 kilograms of expired food.
The inspection also revealed that rice, vegetables, and lentils were being kept in an unclean environment. The presence of insects and rodents, including cockroaches and rats, was noted in both the kitchen and storage areas.
The food safety officers expressed strong dissatisfaction with these findings, leading to the cancellation of the kitchen’s license.
