Food Poisoning at NMIMS University: 30 Students Affected, 18 Critical
A severe case of food poisoning at NMIMS University in Polepally SEZ, Jadcherla, has affected 30 students, with 18 in critical condition. The students were rushed to SVS Medical College Hospital in Mahabubnagar for emergency treatment.
Jadcherla MLA Janampally Anirudh Reddy visited the university after hearing about the incident. He spoke with students to understand their concerns and criticized the university management for negligence. He condemned the administration for not providing immediate medical care and for attempting to treat students on campus instead of sending them to a hospital.
Reddy demanded the university take responsibility and ensure the best medical treatment for the affected students. He also questioned how an institution that charges high fees could compromise student safety with poor food quality. He called for a full investigation into the university’s food services and strict action against those responsible.
Student organizations, including the Telangana Graduates Association and SFI, have demanded that NMIMS University lose its recognition due to repeated failures in student welfare. They also want criminal charges filed against the management for trying to cover up the incident and allegedly threatening the press from reporting it.
There is also controversy over how the university was established. Protesters claim that the previous TRS government allowed NMIMS to operate despite known irregularities. They are urging the District Collector and MLA Anirudh Reddy to take strong action and revoke the university’s recognition.
Reddy assured students that he would fight for justice and ensure strict action against the university. He questioned why authorities only acted after his intervention and urged them to take proactive measures.
Meanwhile, student organizations have asked SVS Hospital MD Rami Reddy to provide the best medical care for the hospitalized students. With growing demands for legal action and revocation of the university’s recognition, pressure is mounting on state authorities to respond swiftly.
