Demand for Protection of Tanks and Government Lands in Wyra
In Khammam, Telangana Rythu Sangam District Secretary Bonthu Rambabu has called for the establishment of a “Hyderabad-style Wyra” to safeguard tanks, ponds, and government lands in the Wyra region. His remarks followed an inspection of encroached lands and water bodies within the Wyra Municipality on Saturday.
Rambabu highlighted the issue of encroachments affecting the Wyra reservoir and other water bodies. He expressed concern that these illegal activities are reducing water storage capacity, which in turn is impacting the irrigation of crops.
The district secretary also pointed out that government lands worth crores of rupees are being encroached upon and sold off. He emphasized the urgent need to address the situation to prevent further loss of public resources and ensure water availability for agriculture.
