Nagarkurnool: Archaeologist Emani Sivanagi Reddy has urged the villagers of Indrakal to help preserve a 700-year-old temple from the Kakatiya period. The temple, dedicated to Lord Indreshwara, is located about 6 kilometers from Tadoor Mandal Center in Nagarkurnool district.

The temple is currently in a poor condition, and Reddy made an appeal to the villagers to take action to protect it. He visited the site after being informed by local literary figures Mucharla Dinakar and poet Edirepalli Kashanna.

During his visit, Reddy observed that the temple has a sanctum (Garbha Griha), an inner hall (Ardha Mandapa), and a main hall (Maha Mandapa), showcasing the architectural brilliance of the Kakatiya era.

He also pointed out the remarkable sculptures inside the temple, including the Shivling, deities’ idols, statues of Mahishasuramardini, and finely carved pillars. These works of art reflect the temple’s cultural and historical importance.

Reddy emphasized the need for the villagers to protect and restore the temple so it can regain its former glory, preserving its artistic and historical value for future generations.
