Flood Troubles Submerge Multiple Villages and Towns

Flood water entered Pushkar ghats in Bhadrachalam on Thursday. The water level in the Godavari River was at 47 feet at 7 pm, but it had reached 50.70 feet earlier in the morning and started receding slowly. Officials have issued a second warning and alerted all mandal officers to be prepared for any issues. If the water level reaches 53 feet, it will be considered dangerous. Officials have discharged 11,33,815 cusecs of water downstream. Due to the inflow of water from upstream projects and tributaries, the water level is expected to rise further and reach dangerous levels on Friday.

With the increase in the water level, many villages along the river banks have been flooded, causing transportation to be cut off. A bridge in Turubaka village and roads connecting Bhadrachalam to other villages have been inundated with flood waters. The Kinnerasani project and Taliperu medium project have both experienced heavy flooding, affecting transportation in Palvoncha and Burgampad mandals.

They have set up 71 flood shelters in the Bhadrachalam agency and have already shifted around 3,300 flood victims to these shelters. The District Collector has emphasized that officers should stay in their posts until the situation improves and has instructed mandal officers to educate people about the flood situation and move them to relief centers immediately.
