Tension arose at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Gurukul School in Gollapally, Jagtial district, when five students suddenly fell ill. They were quickly taken to a hospital for treatment. This incident occurred just hours after the State Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka, and other Congress leaders visited a Gurukul School in the district. During their visit, they promised to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of students in welfare residential schools, following the recent deaths of two students.
The school staff reported that the students, named Srija, Rishita, Sravya, Bhavya Shri, and Amita, became ill while participating in competitions organized at the school on Tuesday. These events were held in preparation for the upcoming Independence Day on August 15th.
The affected students were transported to Jagtial Government Hospital by ambulance. According to the school staff, the students fell ill during the sports competitions. However, the students’ parents believe their children got sick due to food poisoning. Doctors treating the students have stated that their condition is stable. They have collected samples from the students to determine the cause of their illness.
Government Whip Adluri Laxman Kumar and MLC Jeevan Reddy have urged the authorities to ensure that the students receive better medical care.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion, as it coincided with the Deputy Chief Minister’s assurance that all necessary facilities would be provided to prevent problems for students in Gurukul Schools and to guarantee their safety.
