Film director Raghavendra Rao receives notice from High Court

The High Court in Hyderabad has responded to a PIL filed by director Raghavendra Rao, who alleged that the government allocated land for the film industry’s theaters was used for other purposes. Notices have been issued to Raghavendra Rao and his relatives once again.

The government allotted 2 acres of land in the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad to Raghavendra Rao. Previously, the court had issued notices on this petition, but since they were not on record as received, they issued notices again on Thursday. The court has adjourned the hearing to January 18.

In 2012, Balakishan, a person from Medak, filed a Public Interest Litigation claiming that using 2 acres of land for commercial purposes (RK Cineplex) is against the rules. Chief Justice Alok Arathe and Justice NV Shravan Kumar, a two-judge bench, are hearing the petition. The defendants, including Raghavendra Rao and his relatives Krishnamohan Rao, Chakraborty, Vijayalakshmi, Akhilandeshwari, and Lalasa Devi, have been served notice.
