A lady home guard from Vemulawada, Rajanna Sircilla district, has been arrested for blackmailing a retired Assistant Engineer. The woman, identified as Anusha, allegedly targeted wealthy individuals by claiming her husband was unwell and needed expensive treatment. She used this story to demand large sums of money, amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Anusha initially approached retired Assistant Engineer Dwarka Shekhar and borrowed Rs. 3,50,000, stating it was for her husband’s medical expenses. However, when Shekhar later asked her to repay the money, she allegedly created fake, morphed photographs of herself with him. These photos falsely suggested that they were married. Using these images, she began to blackmail him.
In one instance, Anusha demanded Rs. 5 lakh from Shekhar, threatening to destroy his reputation if he refused. Out of fear, Shekhar paid the amount. But when she made yet another demand, this time for Rs. 3 lakh, Shekhar decided he had had enough and informed the police about the situation.
Following an investigation, police discovered that Anusha had been using the morphed photos to intimidate her victims into giving her money. She has since been arrested and is now in custody.
