Farmers Stage Protest in Arepally Village Over Land Issues
Farmers from Arepally village in Warangal staged a unique protest by staying in their fields throughout the day on Monday. They were demanding the protection of their fertile lands, which they fear losing due to changes in the Warangal Master Plan.
According to the farmers, the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) altered the alignment of the inner ring road near a private hospital on the outskirts of Arepally. They claim this change was unnecessary and done to benefit certain leaders from both the ruling and Opposition parties, putting their own lands at risk.
The farmers expressed frustration, stating that the revised Master Plan is unscientific and has unfairly impacted them. They believe this situation is the result of a nexus between officials and influential political leaders.
Despite their efforts to seek justice, the farmers said their pleas have gone unheard. They mentioned approaching district in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and the district administration, but they have not received any resolution to their concerns.
The protesting farmers demanded that the government scrap the new Master Plan and reinstate the earlier version to ensure their lands are protected.
