Farmers Protest Over Incomplete Compensation for Land
In Tappetla Morsu village, located in the Gattu mandal of Jogulamba Gadwala district, farmers staged a protest on Tuesday. They were upset because they have not received full compensation for the land they gave up for the Bharat Mala project.
The Bharat Mala project aims to improve road connectivity across India. However, more than a year ago, local farmers gave up their land for this project and have only received half of the promised compensation. This has caused financial problems for the farmers, who rely on their land for their income.
Despite repeated promises, the government has not delivered the full compensation. This delay has left many farmers struggling financially. They recently raised the issue with the District Collector, but the response was not satisfactory, leading to increased frustration.
The lack of full compensation has also resulted in poor infrastructure. The Bharat Mala project was supposed to improve roads, but Tappetla Morsu village still lacks proper access roads. This has made daily life and economic activities difficult for the community.
During the protest, farmers demanded immediate action and justice. “We have waited patiently for over a year, but our patience has run out,” said a protest leader. “We gave our lands for the greater good, but in return, we have received nothing but broken promises.”
The protestors called for higher authorities to intervene and release the remaining compensation. They also demanded the construction of the promised roads to improve connectivity to their village.
District Collector BM Santhosh is expected to address the farmers’ concerns. The government’s response will be crucial in resolving the issue and restoring the farmers’ trust.
As the protest ended, the farmers remained united and determined to continue their fight for justice until their demands are met. Their protest highlights the challenges faced by rural communities during large development projects and the need for timely and fair compensation.
