Heavy rains have caused damage to crops in parts of Mahbubanagar district. The agriculture and marketing departments have been alerted to help farmers. The departments will provide tarpaulins and other necessary arrangements to protect the crops from getting damaged by the rains.

On Tuesday evening, there was an average rainfall of 16 millimeters in Mahabubnagar Urban, CC Kunta, Moosapet, Bhootpur, Gandeed, and Moinabad mandals. Farmers drying their crops on the roads, agriculture platforms, and at market yards were affected by the heavy rains in CC Kunta and Moosapet. In Bhootpur, high-speed winds combined with hailstorm caused damage to the paddy, maize, and mirchi crops.

The mango plantations in Nagarkurnool, Narayapet, and Wanaparhty districts were destroyed due to unseasonal rains. More than 22,000 acres of mango plantations were destroyed in Kollapur alone. Pests, low yields, and unseasonal rains have caused losses for farmers this year.

In Narayanpet district, heavy rains combined with thunderstorms and high-speed winds destroyed standing paddy crops in hundreds of acres. District Collector Koya Sriharsha reported that 273 farmers faced losses due to unseasonal rains. A crop damage compensation of Rs 31.56 lakh has been assessed and submitted to the government.

In Bomraspet mandal of Kodangal constituency, thunderstorms caused large-scale damage to paddy and maize crops. The agriculture and marketing department authorities have been alerted to provide relief operations to the affected farmers. The district Collectors of Narayanpet and Mahbubanagar districts have directed officials to provide tarpaulins to farmers and assess the extent of damage caused by the rains.
