Farmers in Warangal should focus on growing commercial crops that bring in good prices, said Warangal district Collector Satya Sarada.
During her visit to the oil palm nursery at Ramachandrapuram under Sangem mandal on Wednesday, she encouraged farmers to consider oil palm cultivation.
“Oil palm cultivation requires low investment but offers good income. Farmers can earn Rs 1 lakh per acre once the crop is ready for harvest,” Satya Sarada explained.
The government aims to cultivate oil palm in 3,600 acres in Warangal district.
The Collector asked horticulture officials to educate farmers about the benefits of growing oil palm. She also instructed agriculture extension officers to hold programs at Rythu Vedikas to explain oil palm cultivation and the available subsidies to farmers.
District horticulture officer Srinivas Rao and oil palm company general manager Sathish were also present during the visit.
