Edible oil scam exposed, one person arrested in joint operation

The Hyderabad police, along with food safety officials, raided a shop in Mahaboob Mansion, Malakpet. They caught a man for repacking and selling expired edible oils. He used a whitener to hide expiry dates and batch numbers on the labels. The police seized expired products worth ₹1.9 lakh.

The arrested man was identified as Ashok Kumar Agarwal, a 51-year-old owner of Sri Ganesh Balaji Lakkadatar Oil. The officials confiscated 161 bottles and 31 tins, totaling 1,014 litres of oil.

According to the police, the raid took place on Monday at Sri Ganesh Balaji Lakkadatar Oil in Sri Krupa Market. Investigations revealed that Agarwal was buying edible oils in bulk and repacking them without the required license. He then sold these oils to customers while hiding the expiry dates to make illegal profits.

The seized oil, along with Agarwal, was handed over to the Food Safety Officer (FSO) of GHMC, Circle-VI, Malakpet, for further action.
